The Institute for Global Tobacco Control at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health wishes to recognize alumni who have made an outstanding contribution to advancing tobacco control in the areas of research, advocacy, policy, and practice.
Criteria
- Nominees must be alumni of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Global Tobacco Control Leadership Program and/or the Global Tobacco Control Certificate Scholarship Program, and;
- Nominees must have made a remarkable research, advocacy, policy, or practice contribution in the field of tobacco control.
Nomination and Selection Process To nominate alumni for an award, please complete and submit the following items: - A nomination form
- A letter of recommendation (500 words or less) describing your nominee's important achievement(s) in tobacco control in the area of (1) research, (2) advocacy, (3) policy, or (4) practice, and explaining why they meet the criteria for an award in this area. The letter must be signed or contain your electronic signature, if emailed.
Your nominee's current curriculum vitae or resume Any additional letters of recommendation (250 words or less) from your colleagues in support of your nominee. All letters of recommendation must be signed by the author; emailed letters must contain an electronic signature.
To nominate yourself for an award, please complete and submit the following items: - A self-nomination form
- A brief (500 words or less) personal statement describing your important achievement(s) in tobacco control in the area of (1) research, (2) advocacy, (3) policy, or (4) practice, and explaining why you meet the criteria for an award in this area.

An awards committee comprised of internationally recognized individuals in the field of tobacco control will select the award recipients. Nominees will be judged based on their personal statement or their nominator's letter of recommendation, and any additional letter(s) of recommendation. Nomination Deadline The deadline for receiving nominations for the 2012 Alumni Awards was December 19, 2011. Awards Ceremony and Announcement The Institute for Global Tobacco Control Alumni Awards for Excellence were presented at an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the 15th World Conference on Tobacco or Health in Singapore on March 20, 2012.
